Aseptic Weld-In Sight Glass Assembly for Sterile Process Lines
The LUMISTAR Aseptic Screw-In Sight Glass Fitting is designed for visual process monitoring in sterile pipelines, bioreactors, pharmaceutical equipment and hygienic process vessels. Featuring a metal-fused sight glass disc housed in a stainless steel fitting, it provides a compact observation window for applications where process visibility and hygienic installation are important.
The assembly consists of a slotted cover nut, metal-fused sight glass, sealing elements and a weld-in nozzle. The nozzle is welded into the vessel or pipeline wall, while the threaded cover nut secures the viewing assembly in place. This design allows the sight glass to be installed and serviced as part of a compatible process connection.
The sight glass uses borosilicate glass fused directly to a metal ring, forming an integrated glass-to-metal structure. The fusion process creates a compressive stress structure within the glass, helping improve resistance to mechanical stress and thermal shock compared with conventional loose glass discs when properly selected for the operating conditions.
Designed similarly to DIN 11864-1 aseptic pipe fittings, this sight glass assembly is intended for compatible sterile process installations. Its compact construction supports visual inspection of product flow and process conditions in closed systems. The connection dimensions and sealing arrangement should be checked against the required fitting standard before installation.
The fitting is available in nominal sizes from DN40 to DN100 in the referenced design. Approximate pressure ratings vary by size, with reference values of 25 bar for DN40 and DN50, 16 bar for DN65 and DN80, and 10 bar for DN100. These values are configuration-specific and must be verified against the final assembly specification.
