176-Type Sintered Sight Glass for High-Strength Process Observation

The 176-Type Sintered Sight Glass is a fused borosilicate sight window designed for demanding industrial applications where conventional flat glass may present a higher risk of breakage. Its glass-to-metal fused construction provides a robust and durable viewing solution for pressure vessels, reactors, process piping and other industrial equipment.

Unlike conventional loose glass discs that are mechanically clamped between sealing components, the 176-Type design uses sintered borosilicate glass integrated with a metal ring. This construction improves resistance to mechanical stress, impact, over-tightening and thermal shock, making it suitable for applications requiring a reliable and long-service-life observation window.

The standard window is manufactured from sintered borosilicate glass, while the housing or metal ring can be supplied in 304 or 316 stainless steel. For more demanding chemical and process environments, alternative materials including carbon steel, Duplex stainless steel, Hastelloy C-22 and Hastelloy C-4 are available.

The 176-Type Sintered Sight Glass follows Type-176 mounting and dimensional requirements and can be supplied for compatible Type-176 housings. Depending on the equipment design, mounting configurations can include flanged, weld-on and cartridge-style installations.

With an operating temperature range of approximately -60°C to +300°C and standard pressure capability up to 40 bar, the 176-Type is suitable for a wide range of chemical processing, pressure vessel, filtration, mixing, coating and laboratory applications. Higher pressure designs can be evaluated according to the specific equipment and operating conditions.

Material certificates according to EN 10204-3.1 can be supplied when required. The glass-to-metal construction is manufactured in accordance with relevant DIN 7079 requirements, with the borosilicate glass corresponding to DIN 7080.
