Sight Flow Indicator with Rotor for Reliable Visual Flow Monitoring
The Sight Flow Indicator with Rotor is a mechanical visual flow monitoring device installed directly in process pipelines. It allows operators to quickly observe whether the process medium is flowing while simultaneously viewing the condition of the medium through two transparent sight windows.
As the process fluid passes through the indicator body, the 316 stainless steel rotor rotates with the flow, providing an immediate visual indication of flow presence and direction. Unlike electronic flow sensors, the rotor-type design requires no electrical power, wiring or instrumentation, making it a practical solution for process lines where simple and reliable visual monitoring is required.
The LMX 880-XR series is designed with a dual-window flanged construction and can be manufactured according to ANSI/ASME B16.5 flange standards. The standard configuration uses a 316/316L stainless steel body, tempered borosilicate glass and PTFE sealing, while alternative materials such as carbon steel, duplex stainless steel, graphite, FKM and FFKM are available depending on the application.
The sight flow indicator can be supplied in different nominal sizes and pressure classes to meet specific pipeline requirements. Optional flapper or drip-nose indicators are also available for applications where very low flow rates need to be detected.
Typical applications include chemical processing, petrochemical plants, oil and gas systems, pharmaceutical processing, water treatment, power generation, offshore and marine equipment, as well as pump discharge and transfer lines.
For customized requirements, customers can specify the pipeline size, pressure class, operating temperature, process medium, flange standard, body material, glass material and sealing material. Our engineering team can then recommend a suitable configuration and provide a technical drawing for approval.

FAQ
A:A sight flow indicator with rotor is an inline pipeline device that allows operators to visually monitor process flow. A rotor inside the body rotates when the medium passes through it, providing a simple visual indication of flow.
A:A standard sight glass mainly provides a viewing window for observing the process medium. A sight flow indicator adds a mechanical indicator such as a rotor, flapper or drip-nose to provide visual confirmation of flow.
A: No. The rotor is driven directly by the process medium, so the standard design requires no electrical power or external instrumentation.
A: The standard body is 316/316L stainless steel. Carbon steel, 304/304L stainless steel, duplex stainless steel and special alloys such as Hastelloy or titanium can also be supplied depending on the application.
A: The standard flanged design can be supplied according to ANSI/ASME B16.5 Class 150 and Class 300. Other pressure requirements can be evaluated according to the application.
